The All Blacks are synonymous with black, making the rare occasions they took the field in white one of the most fascinating chapters in rugby history. This vintage Canterbury of New Zealand long sleeve jersey is believed to date to the 1981 All Blacks alternate strip worn against Scotland in Dunedin and at Eden Park, when New Zealand took the field in white with a black collar. Jerseys like this were seldom seen on the international stage, making white All Blacks designs some of the most sought-after pieces among rugby collectors.
Produced by Canterbury of New Zealand and made in New Zealand, this early replica version features the classic heavyweight cotton construction, black collar, and stitched silver fern crest. It represents one of the earliest All Blacks replica releases, produced in the 1980s and directly inspired by that 1981 alternate strip. The jersey has clearly been well cared for as a collector’s item and remains in remarkable vintage condition, making it a standout piece of rugby history and a rare addition to any serious All Blacks collection.
